dude,
you hit the proverbial "nail." you drink, especially in a social setting, because you feel inferior, uncomfortable, lonely and somewhat anxious. your personality disorder tells you that your only friend is booze. you like and rely on the place alcohol takes you. you like the escapism. you are safe when you reach the point of total oblivion. not your fault.
the problem is that social drinkers drink to the point of uncomfortability. you drink and drink and drink. to you alcohol abuse is not drinking every ounce and every drink you can and never stop. you perceive the drink as an ice cream cone. your drinking is equivalent to a super large banana split. i know. i am there
